Contract Negotiations

Negotiations are an integral part in all business and legal relationships.  Managing relationships while carrying on business in an effective manner is an invaluable skill.  The Sports & Entertainment Law Forum is proud to present the Contract Negotiations panel in this year’s conference.  

This panel consists of leaders in the field of Contract Negotiations coming from multiple backgrounds.  These backgrounds include work in professional sports, business, academics, and law.  This panel will be highly interactive and will include a case study analyzed from the panelists’ unique perspectives.  Topics covered will include: negotiation techniques, key deal points, relationship management.

Branding and Sponsorship

Branding and sponsorship deals are used in almost every area of business.  The psychological effects that pairing a well-known athlete, entertainer, or entity with another business can give a business a significant advantage.  Consumers want to identify with athletes and entertainers and what better way than to use the same products and services that they use.  The Sports & Entertainment Law Forum is proud to present the Branding and Sponsorship panel in this year’s conference.  

This panel consists of leaders in the field of branding and sponsorship coming from multiple backgrounds.  These backgrounds include work in professional sports, business, academics, and law.  Topics covered will include: how to use branding, sponsorship and endorsements to increase profits; key legal issues; and how to identify the right athlete, entertainer, or entity to match a business.

The Future of NCAA Amateurism

The business of college athletics is one of the fastest growing areas in the entertainment industry.  However, the NCAA is a non-profit entity.  Could one case, set to be heard in May, change the face of intercollegiate athletics?  The Sports & Entertainment Law Forum is proud to present The Future of NCAA Amateurism panel in this year’s conference.

This panel brings together some of the leading minds from differing views on the topic of O’Bannon lawsuit against the NCAA.  The issue brings together a diverse background from NCAA compliance, inside counsel, legal academia, and sports journalism.  Topics covered will include: issues of the case, potential ramifications, what changes should be made to reflect the goals of amateurism.

New Media and its Effect on Intellectual Property Law

Intellectual property is a key component in the sports and entertainment law field.  The influx of new media, for example YouTube, is changing the intellectual property world.  Media is now available at your fingertips on the go with your cell phone and computer.  New concerns and business opportunities have arisen due to these technological advances that are still in their early stages.  The Sports & Entertainment Law Forum is proud to present the New Media and its effects on Intellectual Property Law panel in this year’s conference.  

This panel consists of leaders in the field of intellectual property coming from multiple backgrounds.  These backgrounds include work in professional sports, business, academics, and law.  Topics covered will include: concerns that have arisen due to the influx of new media, business opportunities, and how to structure a licensing deal to include new media.
